Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Torrey Smith announced today that he would be playing for a different organization next season. This news comes two days before the free agency opens. Smith was hoping to stay with the Ravens but knew he could get better offers elsewhere. He is rumored to be heading to San Francisco. Smith, who was drafted by the Ravens in 2011, played college ball at the University of Maryland and most importantly helped the Ravens to their 2012 Super Bowl win. In 2013, he caught 65 passes for 1,128 yards and four touchdowns. He was not only a fan favorite on the field but off the field as well. His character showed through in the many organization’s he worked with within the Baltimore community including the Torrey Smith Foundation, which provides children with educational support, opportunities, and resources. On Sunday night he wrote a letter on his blog announcing his departure and thanking the Ravens organization and the fans. Smith will definitely be missed in Baltimore.
